Our private funders consist of highly successful entrepreneurs that have various business interests in their home country and worldwide. They are not professional angel investors nor are they venture capitalist firms.
These funders are mostly based in the Asia-Pacific region and provide discrete equity or debt funding to small medium enterprises for the purpose of their start-up and/or their domestic or international business expansion. Their role in the business may be passive or active, very much depending on the agreed arrangement between the funder and the business.
Unlike other investment networks, we actively pursue private funding for businesses that we think have an international growth potential. In this regard, we are very selective in the type of business that we take on, and although we do not guarantee funding, a high percentage of businesses looking for funding through us manage to secure funding for their expansion.
Funding Criteria
Our private funders have their own investment criteria which vary from one type of funder to the next. There are no set preferences of industries, although many will invest in industries they have knowledge of. Generally, however, the types of private funders we source include:
· private investors and institutions
· incubators located in the Asia-Pacific region
Private Funding Search Process
Typically, the process is as follows:
· Stage 1: Enquiry and Preliminary Consultation (no charges)
We will tell you whether your project or program is what our private funders are currently looking for. If we are of the opinion that your business model is viable, we will make an offer for you to proceed to Stage 2 and let you know what our fees and charges are.
· Stage 2: Submission of Application for Private Funding and Agency Agreement
If you would like to proceed, we will provide you with an Application Package consisting of the following and which you will be required to fill:
- funding information form
- executive summary template
- domestic market performance template
- international business expansion plan template
- legal documentation required for protection against disclosure
- agency agreement appointing us as a non-exclusive agent for sourcing private funding for the purpose of international expansion on your behalf
Note: Please let us know if you require assistance in preparing the above, particularly in respect of market research, feasibility studies and other types of analyses required for consideration by a private funder
· Stage 3: Review of, and Advice on, Application Package
We will review your Application Package and advise you on whether any further information should be included.
· Stage 4: Start of Search for Private Funders
We will proceed to start a search from our database of private funders. Typically, interested parties will start to commence negotiations between 3 – 6 months, and much sooner if your business is what the private funder is looking for.
· Stage 5: Commencement of Negotiations and execution of an MOU
We will proceed to negotiate to obtain the best deal on your behalf and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) covering key terms will be executed as soon as possible between the funder and your company.
· Stage 6: Due diligence process and Application for Approvals (where required)
More likely than not, the private funder will insist on a due diligence on your business to be undertaken. If an application for a foreign investment approval is required, or if foreign direct investment incentives are sought, such application will be lodged at this stage.
· Stage 7: Execution of Formal Agreements and Transfer of Funds
Thereafter, formal agreements are executed and funds transferred in accordance with the terms and conditions of the agreements.
